Christmas Came Early
Currently in the middle purchasing this cottage in Manitou, the sellers have been so kind to let me move in before we close early next year. This past week, I've been getting a list ready for the inspection objection. Seeing the house had a 20 year old water heater, this was a priorty. Sure enough, the water heater goes out not too long after. Thought it was a just a pilot light out, but the tech that came out confrimed the water heater was toast, I thought "Great, this is something we can take care of before closing"
I texted the sellers after this was confirmed to let them know, winter time in Colorado had me concerned about the pipes and the integrity of the house. I get a text back almost immediately saying the hot water heater is fine and they're concerned about my integrity and asked me move out immediately while they contacted their attonery.
I was in complete shock. I thought I had a good relationship with the sellers, in fact, the wife and I had plans to drop off old furniture from the property at Good Will that weekend. I couldn't believe this was their response, I was devestated but I also began making peace with the fact that I'd have to start my house hunt all over.
Of course, I get a call from Elaine(the wife), I had been waiting for this. It turns out she thought I was a tennant at another property they owned and she was EXTREMELY apologetic for the confusion. I couldn't believe it, but she admitted she never saved my number and didn't realize who she was talking to. Long story short, we got a new water heater installed the next day :)
