Magic of San Clemente
A couple weekends ago I got to go out to California and compete at SJJIF Worlds(huge Jiu Jitsu tournament). The day before the comp myself and another teammate drove an hour down the Pacific Highway to Oceanside to go get some rounds at a gym, afterwards we had a few hours before our next session so we stopped at San Clemente along the way to relax at the beach. As we were walking to the beach, we were dragging our jaws along in awe at all of the beautiful houses, everyone had gardens with agave plants about half the size of their cars! These houses were #goals.
As we were leaving the beach, getting back into the car, an old yellow lab followed us and tried to hop in with us, the owner wasn't too far behind. Got to chatting, told him we were there for a Jiu Jitsu tournament and he goes "the Brazalian kind?" Turns out his daughter in-law is brown belt in BJJ and he had to show us pictures. He and his wife invited us into their house and showed us around. They were practically on the shore. Retired Navy, they had been there for 30 years and their home is now worth 2.3 million. They were making fresh salsa, you could smell the peppers in the air and the ended up sending us with a jar and a bag of chips. So unexpected, such a lovely in encounter in such a beautiful space.
